UILocalNotification not dismissed from notification center if app is in foreground

I am facing issues with local notifications in ios. I schedule the local notification for a particular time. When the local notification is launched and the app is in background, the app works fine. However if the app is in foreground, the didReceiveLocalNotification: method is called and everything works fine except that the notification is still added to the notification centre.Selecting the notification later triggers the same action again which is not correct.

i cannot clear all the notifications at that very moment as the app may have other pending notifications for some other actions.Is there anything i can do to handle this particular situation?

Please help.
