insertSubviewAtIndex changing view transformation and center

I have multiple UIViews stacked together, and I'm calling insertSubviewAtIndex and it causes all the transformations and center to change from what they should be. When I don't have insertSubviewAtIndex it works (but the view hierarchy isn't what I want). The problem happens with any view method for changing the view hierarchy. Any ideas on how to fix? Thanks
